The last workshop

The Writing Your Family Stories workshops come to a close this morning. It has been a lot of fun. I have had 6-8 participate, include a charming little boy and his family. So we've had a good perspective from all ages on what stories and memories we treasure and hope to keep on sharing with family and others.

What about you? Do you remember a tradition of gathering on the front porch after dinner and hearing/telling stories? Whether grandfather is telling about his youth, or someone is making up ghost stories, (which my mother did very well) or remembering old family traditions? That is all part of your history - who you are. Its worth writing down.

This is one of the most fun things I've done with writers. After the class we all went out and had lunch at a pizza joint - it was only fitting since our prompt today was - food! What memories (good or bad), family traditions revolve around food? Give it a try.

Hm, you're asking me to remember a long way back but i'll see what i can dredge up.

My worst memory of food was eating fish poached in milk. Yeccccccch! I've given up milk since then.
