There is a Silver Lining Empty There is a Silver Lining

Post  Brother Jeff Wed Apr 06, 2011 6:55 pm

I just need to find it. Looks like these morons in congress not doing their jobs is going to effect my pay. I was told that if a budget isn't passed, I may be one of millions who get to stay home. It is so stupid, 'cause I work in a facility that is critical to communications with our NATO allies so you would think I was pretty much safe. Bunch of stupid monkeys, they all need pink slips! Mad

So, if I disappear for awhile, it's cause I ran out of money. Sad

Well, I found it. Seems my agency has been funded, at least temporarily, from another form of budget process seperate from the congressional budget. Damn is our government way too big! Even the people keeping secrets don't know who they are keeping secrets from!

I am glad for you that your pay check will not be interrupted. Seems like we went through this before and they managed to pull it through in time. Wondered how much was media hype.

There is even more news, seems congress wants to get rid of 0ne million government jobs in order to trim the budget. The thing about that is how is that going to help the economy? Put one million people out in the street and that's going to effect the economy one way or the other.

Anyways, with this new drive to cut the budget, this could allow me to retire early. this would allow me to really get my studio up and running. The other news is that the wife may be up for a new job that will further help me get my studio moving. Just a lot of ifs right now and more questions than answers.

I recently reviewed a client's package and the pricing I gave her. Once it was all said and done, I only made about $20 bucks. We both must be ill! It was a good thing I did it as it showed me where I needed to change.

I am definately going to start doing craft fairs and festivals. Maybe that will help me earn gas money? lol Very Happy

I have not found craft fairs worth the time and effort it takes to do them. Setting up a tent (hard to do by myself) hauling tables, chair, display stuff, etc. And to sell maybe one print. It's a pain in the a$$ and then you have to deal with the weather - which is always windy!

So, I am sticking with indoor exhibits and selling in shops on consignment. But, I want to start trying stock photography. I just need to learn about what rights to sell and for how much?

Somehow I became coordinator for the local arts council photo guild. So, I am looking for ideas for workshops and outings. I am fortunate to have a good friend who was a model and photo stylist in NY when she was young. She is helping. We had a get together in a botanical garden last weekend with her helping a couple of volunteer models. The sun was bright and it was a challenge with the hard shadows.

PVC pipes and a white flat bed sheet. Wrap the bed sheet around the pvc pipe and then hold the contraption between the model and the sun, it's a great way to diffuse bright sun, plus its not very exspensive.

Your welcome. Also, don't glue the pvc pipe together, this way you can undue it and it makes it easier to pack and carry from one place to another. I know some people put bungie cords inside the pvc pipe and others just use some sort of small rope. You can even sew the bed sheet around the pvc so you never have to take it off the pipe.

A good website to get info about lighting from is www,strobist.com, look for the lighting boot camp series. Also a good book to buy is Light Science and Magic. Careful though the website and book may lead you to buying more stuff! Laughing
