Canvas on Matboard
Jeff, have you have anything printed at mpix in canvas on mat board? I have a project I want to do something a little differently (see it on my FB page) and that sounds like it will work. I just wonder how it looks quality-wise.
And would I frame it under glass?
I have painted on canvas board vs stretched canvas and am guessing its the same sort of thing.

Re: Canvas on Matboard
I haven't done canvas on mat board, but th idea sounds pretty cool. I have done images on their gallery wraps which is a canvas around an internal frame and have been very happy with the results.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
All I can say is the images I've had printed on canvas have turned out really nice. It give the image a painted quality and has a very nice texture, so canvas on mat board should be real nice.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
So have you tested this yet? I've got some prints I need to put up in my dining room and this might be the way I go.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
Not yet. I have some I want to hang in a room I recently redecorated, so that's a good idea. I'll let you know when I do it. Glad you prompted me.
I was just looking at smugmug.com. Have you ever used them or have an opinion?

Re: Canvas on Matboard
My website is a smugmug website, it's a bit pricey and I'm growing out of it. Not by size or anything, just not liking the layout as much as I used to. If you get the pro version, it's $150 a year, but you get to use a custom domain amongst other benefits.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
That's out of my budget right now. I am going to keep researching stock photography. I think with the thousands of photos I am accumulating I need to do something like that.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
The problem with the stock photography market is that it has crashed pretty hard. You used to be able to sell images and make a decent living with it, and you might still be able to, but with most companies wanting to save their budget, they usually try to get images for free or nearly free. Really research it before you jump into it.
Re: Canvas on Matboard
Sounds like the state of things with writing online. There are so many willing to work for free and I suppose its the same with photos.
